Background: Maternal depression may negatively impact the quality of parent-child interactions, which in turn is associated with greater negative emotionality and behavior problems in children (Lunkenheimer et al., 2012). Limited financial resources can also put a strain on parents; low-income parents experience higher levels of depressive symptoms than their higher-income counterparts (Kerr et al., 2021). Parent mental health can bias parent reports of child affect (Durbin & Wilson 2012).

Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen capable of large chromosomal rearrangements that confer antifungal drug resistance. One such chromosomal rearrangement results in an isochromosome of chromosome 5L (i(5L)) which confers resistance to azole antifungals, the first line of defense against Candida infections. Azole resistance is promoted due to additional copies of ERG1 and TAC1; which are two genes encoding an azole drug target and a transcription activator of efflux.

Genome-wide CRISPR knockout screens have demonstrated variable gene essentiality across diverse cancer cell lines. However, understanding the molecular biology underlying these variations remains a challenge. Network biology has enabled crucial insights into biological systems such as the centrality-lethality hypothesis, postulating that hubs in gene networks tend towards essential genes. We hypothesize that gene centrality in cell-line specific disease gene networks can help explain variable cancer gene essentiality.

With the rise of Evangelicalism and the desire to colonize in Britain, there was an increased effort to bring Western culture to China. One man who worked on bringing Western medicine and science was Benjamin Hobson. He started his first mission right after training as a doctor in London. Through an understanding and respect for the Chinese language and culture, he was able to effectively share his knowledge.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a blood cancer of T or B lymphocytes that originates in the bone marrow, but frequently involves other organs including the central nervous system (CNS). In the context of the CNS, the standard ALL treatment of chemotherapy is toxic and ineffective at targeting all leukemia cells. As a result, ALL relapses in the CNS are common and many patients suffer from both acute and long-term neurocognitive side effects. One mechanism by which leukemia cells evade chemotherapy, survive and proliferate is through manipulation of the microenvironment, or niche.

Objectives: Individuals with chronic illnesses often face stigma from healthcare providers that impacts their access to care and quality of life. This study aimed to examine experiences and satisfaction with healthcare among individuals experiencing issues related to hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), connective tissue disorders associated with joint instability, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue.

Stem cells have the ability of unlimited self-renewal and can differentiate into specific cell types. These characteristics have made stem cells an important topic in the field of regenerative medicine and developmental cell biology. They can be used to model differentiation and develop therapeutic cell types. Stem cells can differentiate into the specific cell lineage spontaneously in vitro within embryoid bodies and in vivo within teratomas.

Genotype-phenotype mapping, identifying gene sequences and variations that are linked to phenotypic traits, remains a fundamental goal of genetic studies. Better understanding the genetic basis of traits, such as genetic disorders or disease susceptibility and resistance, can allow for more effective methods of disease prevention, diagnosis, management, and therapy. Most current methods of genotype-phenotype mapping are only able to investigate trait variation in interbreeding populations.

Thermal oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in frying oils under prolonged heating at high temperatures causes chemical changes which can result in triglycerides decomposing into smaller molecules, joining into larger molecules and changing chemical structure. They can also result in secondary lipid oxidation products such as aldehydes. These compounds react with proteins and DNA to cause damage in the body. The question which arises is: Could we reduce the negative effects of consuming oxidized frying oils in animals and humans by removing their aldehyde contents?

School bullying, in particular, peer bullying, has been extensively researched (Modecki, et al., 2014). However, adult bullying in schools has been neglected. Whitted and Dupper (2008) found that nearly twice as many students reported they experienced worse bullying from adults than peers. This discrepancy calls us to examine the prevalence and perception of teacher bullying behaviors in schools. In this study, teachers (N = 422, Mage = 47.49, SD = 13.33) responded to an online survey to express their perceptions about 26 different behavioral interactions with students (see Table 1).
