Idenfication Accuracy of Bosminidae Species in Minnesota Lakes

This project looked at the idenfication of the native Bosmina Longirostris and non-native Eubosmina Coregini. Minnesota zooplankton databases identify Bosmina Longirostris by the presence of a mucro, but this has been found unreliable in some geographic locations. The more reliable way to identify the species in by the species headpore. We looked at species from three lakes in Minnesota and measured whether or not it had a mucro and if it had a headpore location that matched the presence or absence of a mucro.
