Using Principal Component Analysis to Infer Asian Population Structure

Population stratification, which is caused by the non-random mating between groups, is an important aspect of evolutionary and population genetics. Thus, Understanding the population genetic structure is important for correctly modeling populations and performing genetic association studies. Due to the focus of genetic population structure studies are major on European and African populations while little of them are on the Asian population, this project is to analyze the population structure in the Asian population by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Our study will result in new insights into the genetic structure and relationships of Asian populations.
