Impacts of Religiosity on Suicidality and Non-Suicidal Self Injury for Sexual and Gender Minority Adolescents

There has been substantial literature about the benefits of having support from a religious community during stressful times. However, for sexual and gender minorities the opposite has been found, and religiosity becomes a risk factor. This study aims to look at sexual and gender minority youth, and see how religiosity impacts suicidality and non-suicidal self-injury. We will be analyzing data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study, and predict that suicidality and NSSI will each be positively correlated with religiosity.
