Architectural Epistemology Concerning the Taj Mahal

Epistemology is the process of studying the dissemination of knowledge over time, through different methods and varying results. This study explored the epistemology of a structure that is regarded as one of the "seven wonders of the world," the Taj Mahal. Various modes of sharing knowledge, such as print, photography, and architectural drawings, were utilized in a review spanning the course of 50 years. Scholarly articles, journals, and books were all used and found through University provided databases to find the information within this project, and were the primary focuses of the research conducted. The study is still on going, so there is not a formal conclusion made yet, but so far there is a distinction being made about how the Taj Mahal is viewed, and the story behind it. Hence this study does prove that the various ways knowledge can be disseminated differ based on time period written, background of the author, and prior knowledge of the structure being discussed, the Taj Mahal.
