Research at the University of Minnesota provides undergraduate students the opportunity for faculty mentorship, active learning, and a chance to create new knowledge while being challenged in new ways. Our curiosity makes us who we are. It drives us to discover. Join the thousands of U of M students who participate in undergraduate research each year.
As of September 1, 2014, all new UROP stipends will be paid as scholarships rather than as payroll. Please check with Financial Aid to determine if this will affect your aid package for the year.
The UROP Office is now housed in 511 Bruininks Hall. Come see us in our new location!
The University of Minnesota Informatics Institute (UMII) will provide funding for up to 25 UROP projects that include significant informatics components. Projects must either address a data challenge within a research problem in any field of application or address informatics methodologies or techniques more broadly.
A number of agencies and groups sponsor summer research experience programs for undergraduate students. Google searches will find websites for many of these programs. Many have deadlines in January or February.
