Creating a User Experience and Interface for Underrepresented K-12 Children to Promote Design and Making

This research addresses how I intend to create a website interface that is specifically structured for minority children interested in the design making space program. The user experience design process that typically follows something similar to a design thinking approach, with a focus on social design, will be implemented to further engage the primary users who will be interacting with the website. Working along with Dr. Asojo on her Building Bridges to Design Careers for Underrepresented K-12 children, the outcome is to hopefully inspire young minority students to pursue career fields that are in desperate need of their perspectives and culture. The conclusions of this research can contribute to the lack of equal access to the maker movement traditions in K-12 education.
